What Do You Really Find When You Look Within?

The Infinite Quest of the Self in a Universe of Reflections

What Do You Really Find When You Look Within?

Who am I? It’s a question that sends us down a rabbit hole within ourselves. The journey inward is as vast and complex as outer space. When we talk about “I,” we refer to something much deeper than just our physical existence. We’re all tiny fragments of the essence of being – the pure reality beyond our individual selves.

Imagine a lamp casting light through different openings. The light is the same, no matter if it shines on a mirror or any other object. It’s the same with our existence. We use “I” to describe ourselves, hinting at something much bigger – our spirit. Yet, guided by reason, we often forget this and end up identifying ourselves through our different parts.

Understanding oneself takes more than just thinking you’re okay. The “I” is higher than both body and soul, as it encompasses both. The word “I” isn’t just for humans; it’s tied to our spirit and essence.

To truly understand yourself, you need to go beyond this physical world. Dive into your own being. In moments of clarity, you’ll see that the seeker and the path fade away, leaving just the eye of reality. Here, existence is sublime, and the observable world becomes just noise. Your sense of self is the thin veil separating you from ultimate truth.

When this veil lifts, the distinctions of religion and its laws become irrelevant. These rules only exist because they are tied to your individual “I,” which clings to the physical world. Once your personal “I” dissolves, concepts like Kaaba, synagogue, or monastery lose their hold.

Your separate “I” is a speck in your vision. Once clear, you’ll see the true essence behind the forms. The seeker’s journey has just two steps, albeit risky: transcend your outer identity and traverse the vast desert of existence.

In the grand scheme, you are unity itself, appearing as many. The wise understand this and have moved beyond their small self, embracing the whole.
